Jean Carroll litigation, we now have the receipts in the most literal sense possible because Giuffra\u2019s name is on the petition itself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Tuesday, Trump\u2019s legal team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28521632-scotus726-petition\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">filed a petition<\/a> asking the Supreme Court to toss the $83.3 million defamation verdict Carroll won against him in 2024 \u2014 the second, larger of her two jury verdicts, and a different case entirely from the $5 million sexual abuse verdict SCOTUS already declined to touch back in June. The petition is signed by Giuffra and associate Maxwell F. Gottschall (as well as Michael Martinich-Sauter of the James Otis Law Group). Which is proof \u2014 on the docket \u2014 that S&amp;C is well over the red line Giuffra assured his partners of when first taking Donald Trump on as a client (the Trump representation was reportedly supposed to be limited to the criminal appeal over the falsified business records conviction and his appeal of the civil fraud judgment). If anything, it settles the \u201chow involved is S&amp;C, really\u201d question partners were reportedly stewing over, making it very clear and on the record. Remember, from jump <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2025\/01\/sullivan-cromwell-attorneys-are-not-happy-the-firm-decided-to-suck-up-to-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">S&amp;C partners were uncomfortable<\/a> with representing Trump at all, and reportedly were assured that at least the firm wouldn\u2019t be involved in the sexual abuse and defamation cases brought by Carroll.
