Emergency diploma privilege is the only remedy for all impacted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Some test-takers have voluntarily shared their firsthand accounts that there were technical problems for those with accommodations, as well. The stress of having to take the exam, knowing that the technology failed for the vast majority of their colleagues, hung over their heads. They worried that the technology would fail them too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em><span><i>\u2014<\/i><\/span> Tamara Lawson, dean of the University of Washington School of Law, in comments given to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abajournal.com\/web\/article\/bar-candidates-with-accommodations-in-washington-were-able-to-finish-the-nextgen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ABA Journal<\/a>, concerning the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/abovethelaw.com\/2026\/07\/washington-just-called-off-its-entire-bar-exam\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cancellation of the July administration of the NextGen Uniform Bar Exam<\/a> due to widespread technical problems. In a statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsba.org\/news-events\/latest-news\/news-detail\/2026\/08\/01\/july-bar-exam-canceled\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">released on August 1<\/a>, the Washington State Bar Association noted that test-takers with approved accommodations \u201cwere able to proceed with their exams as scheduled and were not impacted\u201d by those problems. The deans of all three Washington law schools have asked the Washington Supreme Court to grant hundreds of would-be exam takers diploma privilege in light of the chaotic test rollout.
