Britney Spears<\/a>. FKA twigs<\/a>. Selena Gomez<\/a>. These are three extraordinarily powerful women who could hire virtually any lawyer in the country, yet when faced with deeply personal legal battles unfolding under intense public scrutiny, they have all turned to the same Biglaw litigator: Greenberg Traurig\u2019 Mathew Rosengart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His latest celebrity client is Gomez, who was recently sued alongside her mother Mandy Teefey and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson over Wondermind, the mental-health startup they co-founded.<\/p>\n

The plaintiffs, two entities that invested nearly $1.2 million in the company, allege that they were misled about Wondermind\u2019s leadership, infrastructure, and prospects for success and sued for fraud.<\/p>\n

Rosengart says the claims against Gomez don\u2019t have a leg to stand on. \u201cThe allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported \u2018fraud\u2019 or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally,\u201d he told PEOPLE<\/a> and other publications. \u201cWe will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her.\u201d<\/p>\n

At this point, defending famous women in highly publicized legal battles has become something of a specialty for the former federal prosecutor. Rosengart, who co-chairs Greenberg Traurig\u2019s national media and entertainment litigation practice, became a household name \u2014 at least in households that follow both Biglaw and pop culture \u2014 after Spears selected him as her attorney in 2021. He filed a motion for her father\u2019s suspension two weeks after Spears hired him, and within months, her father was removed as conservator and the conservatorship itself was terminated. Above the Law named him its 2021 Lawyer of the Year<\/a>, while Spears repeatedly credited him with changing her life.<\/p>\n

More recently, Rosengart began representing FKA twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, in her continuing dispute with Shia LaBeouf. Barnett previously sued the actor for sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. Following a June 2025 settlement, in response to a December 2025 arbitration filed against her by LeBeouf, she filed a new lawsuit alleging that LaBeouf was attempting to silence her through an illegal nondisclosure agreement. According to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Barnett is asking a court to declare portions of that agreement unenforceable under California law.<\/p>\n

Celebrities are hardly strangers to litigation, and Biglaw firms are hardly strangers to the entertainment industry. But Rosengart occupies a rare space. In addition to representing corporate players, he personally represents the stars \u2014 often when their legal problems are at their most consequential and most public.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough I wouldn\u2019t necessarily have predicted this while at DOJ, it\u2019s truly a privilege to protect and represent these, and all of my clients \u2014 whether celebrities or large corporate clients,\u201d Rosengart told Above the Law.<\/p>\n
