Elon University School of Law Dean Zak Kramer made his students a promise: hit an 85% first-time bar passage rate as a class, and he\u2019d get a tattoo in their honor. Equal parts motivation and branding\u2026 and a little bit of a stunt, but one a dean is only gonna pull when he genuinely believes the number is gettable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Class of 2025 did not merely get there. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elon.edu\/u\/news\/2026\/06\/11\/raising-the-bar-class-of-2025-sets-elon-law-record-for-first-time-bar-passage\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">They crushed it<\/a>, posting a 91.96% first-time pass rate on the North Carolina bar \u2014 a school record, and one that towers over the statewide first-time rate of 74.78%. (Across North Carolina and 11 other jurisdictions, the class hit 90.9%.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So on September 4, <a href=\"https:\/\/myfox8.com\/news\/north-carolina\/alamance\/elon-law-dean-gets-tattoo-fulfilling-deal-with-the-class-of-2025\/amp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kramer paid up<\/a>. He sat down at a tattoo parlor and got an Elon Law-themed \u201c1 &amp; Done\u201d inked onto his forearm, a nod to the school\u2019s mantra about clearing the bar on the first try. Now, \u201c1 and done\u201d is a lovely sentiment when you\u2019re talking about the bar exam, but somewhere out there, a parent of an only child just felt an inexplicable pang of solidarity with a law school dean they have never met.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But family-planning connotations aside, it\u2019s a genuinely nice gesture and proof Kramer isn\u2019t a regular dean, he\u2019s a cool dean.
