Unfortunately, one former managing partner in Illinois is accused of having missed that particular lesson in law firm management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iardc.org\/File\/GetPdfFile\/4909-4210-0939?\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disciplinary complaint<\/a> filed by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, attorney Leslie Joy Allred allegedly misappropriated at least $348,056.30 from her former firm, O\u2019Dekirk, Allred &amp; Rhodes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2019 through 2025, Allred allegedly charged more than $170,000 in personal expenses to the firm\u2019s credit card, including \u201cvacations to Disney World, cruises, luxury hotels, liquor, and axe throwing.\u201d Nothing says responsible law firm management quite like fraud.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The complaint further alleges that Allred sent more than $15,000 from the firm\u2019s operating account to a personal credit account and spent another $163,000 using a firm debit card. Those expenses allegedly included \u201cvacations to Florida, luxury hotel stays, furniture, cash withdrawals, limousine service, sporting events,\u201d and nearly $80,000 in personal federal income taxes. Hey, at least she was on top of paying her taxes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allred allegedly used the firm\u2019s money without notifying or obtaining permission from her partners. As of August 18, 2026, she had not repaid any of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allred, once named a Joliet Area Young Professional of the Year, is now listed as retired by the Illinois bar.
