U.S. history <em>has a thing or two to say<\/em> on their real-world effectiveness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week, Trump met with most of the major tech industry AI leaders, who once again demonstrated they\u2019re <em>enthusiastic<\/em> supporters of the most corrupt and autocratic administration in U.S. history (they\u2019ll then turn around with <a href=\"https:\/\/karlbode.com\/anger-at-ai-is-inextricably-fused-with-justified-loathing-of-the-extraction-class-deal-with-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">puzzlement<\/a> at why the public might be hostile to their products).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They met, in part, to celebrate two very silly things. One, the president\u2019s random decision to arbitrarily try to rename AI as \u201csuperintelligence\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2026\/09\/inaugurating-the-era-of-super-intelligence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">via executive order<\/a>. And to announce they\u2019d all struck a completely voluntary agreement to <em>try and maybe do better<\/em> when it comes to developing software automation responsibly, securely, and ethically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Basically, our richest tech titans wanted to help Trump pretend he\u2019s competent and powerful, and stall any real public interest accountability, whether it\u2019s for the environmental impact of data center turbines on marginalized populations, the sloppy failure to secure their own automated hacking software, or their <a href=\"https:\/\/karlbode.com\/metas-latest-ai-product-is-a-terrifying-and-hilarious-mess\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reckless and comical disregard for U.S. consumer privacy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/saradorn\/2026\/09\/29\/white-house-releases-accord-between-billionaire-ai-execs-heres-what-it-says\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">308-word \u201cAI accord\u201d<\/a> is a load of bullshit and fluff.
