A \u200blaw degree should open doors, but NALP\u2019s latest report shows that those doors are not equally open to \u200beveryone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2014<\/i><\/span> <\/b>Nikia Gray, executive director of the National Association for Law Placement, in a statement<\/a> accompanying NALP\u2019s employment data for the class of 2025<\/a>. More than 94% of white graduates found jobs within 10 months of graduation, compared with less than 91% of graduates of color and 87% of Black graduates, down from nearly 90% in 2024. \u201cGraduates of color remain significantly less likely than White graduates to secure employment \u2014 and the gap is wider for jobs as practicing attorneys,\u201d Gray said. \u201cThese persistent disparities demand continued attention from everyone in the legal profession to ensure that all graduates have a fair opportunity to enter and succeed in the legal profession.\u201d The gap widened as the graduates entered a job market amid the Trump administration\u2019s campaign against diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Nearly 50 law firms that had previously shared demographic data with NALP declined to do so in 2025, a drop the organization attributed to that campaign.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
