Every week (give or take), I get to be fascinated. Because every week (more or less), I get the opportunity to sit down for a conversation for my\u00a0LawNext podcast with the people who are changing legal practice \u2014 the \u201cinnovators and entrepreneurs who are driving what\u2019s next in law,\u201d as we like to say. I [\u2026]<\/p>\n

Every week (give or take), I get to be fascinated. Because every week (more or less), I get the opportunity to sit down for a conversation for my\u00a0LawNext podcast<\/a> with the people who are changing legal practice \u2014 the \u201cinnovators and entrepreneurs who are driving what\u2019s next in law,\u201d as we like to say.<\/p>\n

I find each and every one of these conversations fascinating and intriguing. But what really matters is what you, the listeners, think \u2014 which guests and topics did you find most interesting.<\/p>\n

As I do every year, I\u2019ve compiled two lists here. The first lists the top 15 episodes published during 2024. After that, I list the top 15 episodes of all time, regardless of when they were published. (The first episode<\/a> of LawNext was posted on July 16, 2018.) In each case, the rankings are based on unique downloads.<\/p>\n

The most popular episode this year was an interview with Roger Pilc, legal solutions leader at Epiq Global, on how AI is transforming legal services. Second-most popular was my interview with Michael Lissner, cofounder of The Free Law Project, on how he is working to expand access to legal information.<\/p>\n

Interviews with legal tech CEOs were of interest. Not surprisingly, among the most popular episodes was my exclusive interview with Clio CEO Jack Newton following the company\u2019s record $900 million raise. Other CEOs among the top 15 episodes were BriefCatch CEO Ross Guberman, iManage CEO Neil Araujo, Aderant CEO Chris Cartrett, Spellbook CEO Scott Stevenson, Clearbrief CEO Jacqueline Schafer, and The Contract Network CEO Jim Wagner.<\/p>\n

Several episodes in 2024 related to generative AI, but one of particular interest was my interview with two of the people leading AI strategy and development at Thomson Reuters, Mike Dahn, head of Westlaw, and Joel Hron, head of AI.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the most popular this year were interviews about gen AI in e-discovery, a judicial innovation project, an LLM built for legal, the state of knowledge management, and a project to make all case law available to the public.<\/p>\n
