Law.com has coverage on the decision:

According to a Wednesday announcement from the New York State Court of Appeals, New York will continue to administer a second, New York-specific component in addition to the exam.
…
“We are thrilled that New York has decided to adopt the NextGen bar exam,” NCBE president and CEO Judith Gunderson wrote in the press release. “This decision will help ensure that the state’s newest lawyers are ready for today’s practice of law, while maintaining score portability for the thousands of examinees who seek licensure in New York each year.”

This brings the total count of jurisdictions that will use the NextGen exam to 30. The Big Apple’s version of the exam will have location-specific aspects to the exam that may require in-person attendance to complete. No word on if the in-person component will include finding a lamb over rice platter for less than $15, but no self-respecting New York attorney should find the prospect much of a challenge.

New York Latest to Adopt NextGen Bar Exam [Law.com]

Earlier: Is The NextGen Bar Really Next Up?

Chris Williams became a social media manager and assistant editor for Above the Law in June 2021.
