The summer bonus dominoes just keep falling. While much of Biglaw remains frozen in its usual “waiting to see what everyone else does” stance, another firm has decided there’s no point in making associates sweat through August wondering whether extra money is on the way.
Today, New York-based midsize firm Otterbourg announced that all of its full-time associates will receive a handsome midyear bonus of $20,000 — $5,000 more last year’s bonus — in recognition of their “outstanding performance” and “unwavering dedication.” Otterbourg’s chairman, Richard L. Stehl, had this to say about the firm’s generous bonus:
“We are delighted to reward our associates for their incredible contributions during the first half of 2026. We are always gratified to see this group’s ongoing commitment to clients, and this bonus reflects our strong appreciation for their tireless efforts.”
Otterbourg is a firm that’s known for spreading the wealth among its associates. For example, when firms were first returning to the office in the wake of the pandemic, Otterbourg offered up a $25,000 bonus to its attorneys as a welcome back gift. The firm enjoys celebrating its associates’ achievements and is eager to continue to invest in their talent.
