Aderant, the Atlanta-based provider of business management software for law firms, today announced the addition of AI-powered capabilities to its vi by Aderant talent management suite, including AI-assisted employee performance evaluations, real-time sentiment analysis, and auto-summarization features within its viEval and viAllocate products.

The company says these are the first client-facing AI capabilities within the vi product line, which Aderant acquired through its 2022 purchase of viGlobal, a provider of people-management software for law firms and other professional services firms. In 2024, Aderant introduced its version of viAllocate, building from that acquisition.

The new features are designed to bring greater consistency and data-driven insight to law firm talent decisions. According to the company, the AI tools are embedded directly within existing workflows rather than layered on as separate applications.

What the New Features Do

The AI-powered evaluation tools are intended to help firms improve the quality and consistency of employee performance reviews, Aderant said. As evaluators draft feedback, the system uses real-time sentiment analysis to flag content that may be unclear, inconsistent or misaligned.

An auto-summarization feature gives firm leaders access to concise summaries of individual or aggregated evaluations, generated automatically as part of the evaluation process. This is aimed at reducing the time required to interpret feedback during high-volume review periods, Aderant said.

In addition, viAllocate now includes matter-based evaluation workflows that capture performance feedback tied to specific matters or projects. This feedback is then made available for staffing considerations, giving firms greater visibility into demonstrated experience without adding administrative steps.

“Evaluations play a central role in how firms develop talent, manage risk and allocate work,” said Rick Krieger, head of talent management solutions, product management, at Aderant. “By embedding AI directly within the workflows firms already rely on, we are delivering structured insight that strengthens both evaluation quality and leadership decision-making.”

Part of a Broader Expansion

The announcement comes amid what has been one of the most active periods in Aderant’s history. The company, which operates as a business unit of Roper Technologies (Nasdaq: ROP), has been on an aggressive expansion track over the past year.

In August 2025, Aderant signed a deal to acquire the legal technology assets of HerculesAI (formerly ZERO), including its AI platform for billing compliance. Two months later, in October 2025, it acquired Virtual Pricing Director (VPD), a London-based company specializing in AI-powered legal pricing tools. In December 2025, Aderant and Harvey, the legal AI company, announced a partnership aimed at bridging the gap between business-of-law and practice-of-law software.

At the company’s Momentum Global conference in Dallas last May, CEO Chris Cartrett highlighted 2024 as a record-breaking growth year for Aderant and said 2025 was on track to be even stronger, driven in part by a 234% increase in adoption of Sierra, the cloud version of its Expert financial management software.

Today’s announcement extends Aderant’s AI integration from the financial and operational side of firm management into the talent management arena. It also reflects a broader approach the company has described as embedding AI within core workflows rather than deploying it as a standalone layer.

“vi by Aderant is built to bring intelligence to the operational core of the firm,” said Lisa Erickson, SVP, Product Management and AI at Aderant. “By strengthening evaluation capabilities within both drafting and review workflows, we are enabling firms to approach talent development with greater transparency and confidence.”

Aderant’s vi product suite includes viEval, a performance management solution; viAllocate, a work allocation tool launched in August 2024 that helps firms assign associates to matters based on skills, availability, and other criteria; viSkills; viLMS+CLE; and other modules.

For anyone interested in learning more, Aderant will host a webinar on the new capabilities. Details are available at this page.
