The freakiest thing about Sean Combs’s sentencing is that his projected time in prison keeps going down. At one point there was speculation that he’d be spending the rest of his life behind bars. His high-profile legal team managed to get that time down to about a presidential term — a mere 50 months. Clever appeals have been made since sentencing: arguments about errors in sentencing and a long shot First Amendment argument show that the members of his legal team are doing their damndest to lower the time that Combs has to serve. Diddy is set right now to be let out of the Garden State’s FCI Fort Dix on February 23, 2028, according to the Bureau of Prisons. That’s the third cut in Combs’s sentence in the past few months as it went to April 23 last fall and then more recently to April 15.
Offering no detailed info on Combs’s new release date, all the Federal Bureau of Prisons would say Tuesday is that “good conduct” can help an inmate get their time trimmed down.
And before you ask: yes, 50 Cent is aware and is already teasing Diddy about it.
50 has been punching down at Floyd and Sean (they’re both shorter than him) for years now. Released prisoners often have to adjust to how the world has changed during the time they’ve served. 50 Cent’s hate, much like death and taxes, will be a constant that Diddy won’t have to spend much effort adjusting to once he’s back on the outside.
Comb’s good conduct includes completing a rehab program since behind bars. Fewer parties probably has something to do with it too. That said, it was hard enough to get Costco-sized orders of baby oil on the inside. Despite his multimillionaire status, the supply bottlenecks from being in prison would be a massive deterrent to anyone who isn’t named Biscuit Oliva.
Dreams of an all-white party will have to hold Diddy over until his court-mandated all-orange party comes to an end.
