No pressure!
The post Biglaw Firm So Busy It Will Let First Years Start Early appeared first on Above the Law.
Nabbing your first job in Biglaw is highly coveted: they’re attention grabbing, you get some hands-on experience, and they pay a hell of a lot of money. Summer’s great weather and festivities offer opportunities to rest and relaxation, but there’s many a type A with a strong work ethic and no social life that would jump at the opportunity to skip the relaxation and jump right to work.
Luckily, Milbank’s first years are being afforded that very opportunity:
No wonder Milbank was so quick to give associates summer bonuses.
Considering that other firms have sent out emails delaying summer associate start dates, it is a sign of strength that Milbank is busy enough to speed up work dates a couple of weeks. It is also a sign of culture. If most firms extend the option for associates to start early, most read the iron fist behind the velvet glove and buckle up for labor. Instead, Milbank goes out of its way to make sure that the optional actually reads as optional.
For those that opt in, enjoy you extra time at the firm! For those that don’t, congrats on having a thriving social network!
