Bronx Judge Jeffrey M. Zimmerman is resigning from the bench, effective on April 3, ending a watchdog’s probe that he had engaged in a pattern of discourteous behavior and other alleged misconduct. Zimmerman had written decisions that admonished New York’s bail reform laws, and prosecutors who didn’t adhere to deadlines. He has been serving in the New York City Criminal Court and as an acting state Supreme Court justice in the Bronx.
A Bronx jurist who was under investigation by New York’s judicial misconduct watchdog has tendered his resignation, with more than five years remaining on his term, the independent agency said on Monday.
The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct had been investigating Judge Jeffrey M. Zimmerman, of the New York City Criminal Court, on allegations he had engaged in a pattern of discourteous behavior and other alleged misconduct.
