US Justice Dept. Says Mangione Defense Can’t Seek to Preclude Death Penalty Before Federal Indictment

While U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi on April 1 publicly stated the DOJ would try Luigi Mangione’s case as a capital offense, federal prosecutors in Manhattan on Tuesday called the defense motion premature, arguing that they may not move to preclude the death penalty when their client hasn’t been indicted.
