Washington has become the first state to require premerger notification for deals in any industry. Other states are hot on its heels.
Washington, which is among 15 states that require antitrust premerger notifications for certain health care transactions, in July will become the first to require a notice for deals across all industries.
Antitrust attorneys warn similar legislation is percolating in at least six other states—sure to bring lots more hurdles for companies, particularly for those contemplating multistate M&A deals.
