Court Says Cuba Tobacco Company Has Right to Seek Cancellation of U.S. Rival’s ‘Cohiba’ Trademark

The legal dispute dates back to 1997, when Cuba’s state-owned company attempted to register its Cohiba mark but was turned away because of General Cigar Company’s registration. The court found Cubatabaco has the right to seek cancellation of the mark held by its U.S. rival.
