Investigations and prosecutions of foreign bribery will now focus on bribery that undercuts U.S. companies and key industries, such as intelligence and defense, officials said.
The U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday said it would resume prosecutions of foreign bribery cases and that enforcement will now prioritize matters that undermine U.S. interests.
U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the change in a memo. The directive follows a four-month pause in which the DOJ reviewed all cases brought under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
