State Senate leaders say Family Courts are in crisis mode—and is still recovering from a pause during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

       

A newly enacted New York bill that’s set to add 28 new Family Court judges in January is welcomed, but the challenges it has been designed to vanquish may remain difficult, family law advocates say.

On one hand, the bill, which was signed into law on July 17, includes an ambitious timeline for 24 seats that are coming by way of November’s election, legal observers said.
