“Putting a price tag on a dream is not an easy task. In the instant case the jury considered the evidence presented to reach their verdict and it does not shock the conscience where plaintiff went from a dream job in the NFL to a lifetime of pain and disability resulting from the improper repair and rehab of his knee injury.”

A Philadelphia jury’s decision to award more than $43.5 million to a former Eagles player is set to stand, despite efforts from a defendant medical care provider who claimed the trial judge improperly allowed the plaintiff to argue medical records had been “altered” as part of a “cover-up.”

On Aug. 30, a unanimous three-judge Pennsylvania Superior Court panel rejected efforts by Reconstructive Orthopaedic Associates (ROA) to overturn the verdict awarded to former football player Christopher Maragos in February 2023 over allegations that mistreatment of a knee injury resulted in his career ending prematurely. Writing for the panel in Maragos v. Bradley, Judge Anne Lazarus wholly adopted the trial court’s reasoning in rejecting ROA’s arguments for why the verdict needed to be overturned.
