Let’s settle this.

The basketball tournaments have ended, but we have one more showdown in the Above the Law annual bracket challenge.

When we began, Donald Trump couldn’t find anyone willing to give him a half-billion dollar bond and the AG’s office began looking into properties worth seizing to cover the judgment. We wondered… which asset, if seized, would irritate Trump the most?

Since then, Trump managed to get the size of the bond reduced and for a moment it seemed like he would avoid seizures in the short-term. But then he filed a bond riddled with defects up to and including the possibility that the company behind it doesn’t even have enough money to cover it. The New York Post Editorial Board published a piece calling the AG’s inquiry into the bond “spiteful nonsense,” a curious way to describe a bond that may be worthless. On the other hand, it fits the Trumpian theory of the case perfectly: sure, he may be engaged in fraud, but he’ll eventually pay it back, so why worry about it? Which is like saying Ponzi schemes are legal as long as the perpetrator stays ahead of it, a position that is… not true.

In any event, it looks like we may need to see some seizures sooner rather than later. So which asset will be our champion:

(1) Trump Tower v. (1) Mar-a-Lago

Trump Tower boasts Trump’s 10,996 square foot NYC home. Most NYC apartments barely sport a kitchen, but this one has around 19,000 fictional square feet if you want to cook some books. To reach the finals, Trump Tower bested some prime real estate, including the Trump Building and the Trump Plaza and other stuff named “Trump” before winning a face off against Trump’s beloved Bedminster golf course.

On the other side, Mar-a-Lago is where Trump hangs his hat these days. The Florida club best known for housing America’s nuclear secrets in a pool locker, knocked off Trump’s portfolio of hotels and estates before winning its semifinal matchup against the Plane.

So which will piss off Trump more?
