“We’ve looked at mergers of very large offices, into ours, here in Chicago. We’ve looked at large groups, smaller groups, whatever it is, there’s no set limit,” noted one Big Law office leader in the Windy City.
As the Chicago legal market confronts countervailing currents, several Am Law 200 firms are facing them with new leaders in their Windy City offices. And some office leaders have high ambitions for the Chicago offices, from growing specific practices to courting firm mergers in the city.
Winston & Strawn, which also saw a new firm chair take the reins this month, elevated Bill O’Neil, a trial lawyer and securities litigation partner, as its Chicago office managing partner.
