While the new model—OpenAI o1—could expand the number of legal use cases generative AI can tackle, certain barriers may make it less ubiquitous in legal tech.
Another season, another OpenAI model. On Sept. 12, the artificial intelligence developer announced a new generative AI model series called OpenAI o1, unofficially and colloquially known as Strawberry, that improves its accuracy by reasoning first before responding to a problem or prompt.
“We trained these models to spend more time thinking through problems before they respond, much like a person would,” OpenAI said in a blog post introducing OpenAI o1. “Through training, they learn to refine their thinking process, try different strategies, and recognize their mistakes.”
